Coronation day fun at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Our residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home celebrated the king’s coronation with a lively party and families were invited to join us.

We decorated our Home with Union Jack bunting and flags and had special table settings at lunch ready to eat our fish and chips. Our Chef Lynn made some beautiful patriotic cupcakes which were yummy and looked beautiful.

To start our coronation celebrations off, we got our residents to play a game of ‘Pin the diamond on the crown’. We blindfolded our residents in turn and guided them to the picture of the king and got them to pin a diamond onto his crown.

Everyone loved having a go and we had lots of laughs finding the crown. The winner was announced at the end of the day and a box of chocolates was given to Peter. Well done to him!

As part of the celebrations, singer Keeley came and sang songs for us to wave our flags to and get up and dance. One of our favourite songs was ‘The locomotion‘ when we created a train and weaved through the tables led by Operations Manager Silvia.

We all had Prosecco and Bucks Fizz to raise a toast to King Charles. Our residents and relatives were able to wear the crowns they had made throughout the week in our arts and crafts sessions. Even our maintenance team got into the coronation spirit and created a carriage for us to push our residents and relatives around in, giving them the full royal treatment!

We ended the afternoon standing and singing ‘God Save the King’. What a wonderful day and a right royal knees up!
