Daphne is showered with cards on her 100th birthday at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Here at Woodstock Residential Care Home we were delighted to celebrate our resident Daphne turning 100 on Wednesday 19 April, and as this was a very big achievement, our staff made it their mission to make it the most enjoyable day possible.

Local radio stations were contacted and posts were put up on social media and shared by all staff with the challenge of getting Daphne 100 cards in the post for her special day!

Our staff’s families and friends got the ball rolling and started sending in cards, but before long we were overwhelmed with post. Local schools got involved and made some beautiful cards for Daphne, as well as local businesses who sent in cards too. We even received multiple cards from Australia! We managed to receive a massive 345 card in total, which was incredible!

There were some lovely members of the public who gifted Daphne with Elvis themed presents and she also received a very special card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Daphne was so overwhelmed with all her cards and spent the entire day saying how lovely they all were (and how it would take forever to write thank you messages to everyone!). We bought Daphne a beautiful bouquet of flowers and her favourite sweets, as well as a fluffy Dalmatian teddy.

Daphne’s family gave her some lovely personalised cards, a fluffy rabbit teddy and some comfy slippers. Our birthday girl had a smile on her face the entire day and we are so grateful to everyone who sent in a card to make her birthday so memorable.

We look forward to celebrating Daphne’s birthday with an Elvis themed party with other residents and family.

Many happy returns Daphne – what a super day!
