Dementia Action Week crafts at Woodstock Residential Care Home

On Tuesday 17 May at Woodstock Residential Care Home, we all made the most of the beautiful weather in our gorgeous garden and enjoyed crafting paper Forget Me Not flowers in the garden for Dementia Action Week.

Dementia Action Week is Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest and longest running awareness campaign. Each year, they work with individuals and organisations across the UK to encourage people to ‘act on Dementia’. This year’s campaign is running from 16-22 May and focuses on diagnosis. www.alzheimers.org.uk

We made our flowers using paper plates, paint and tissue paper; we cut the plates in the shape of flowers with petals, then chose to either paint them blue and yellow or add some texture with scrunched up blue and yellow tissue paper. Our finished flowers looked gorgeous and will be displaying them with pride around our Home.

We also enjoyed some delicious ice-creams in the sunshine, and why not?!

We had lots of different flavours to choose from including strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, toffee and honeycomb. We had sprinkles, plus strawberry and chocolate sauce to top our ice creams – they were so yummy and a delicious way to keep hydrated on such a warm day.
