Over the weekend, our Woodstock Residential Care Home residents got sporty and watched the FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Manchester United.
We divided our residents into the two different teams so we were able to cheer on our team and get competitive! The ‘Blues’ were delighted when Manchester City eventually won 2-1.
As part of the fun we then set the challenge for our residents to score in a penalty shoot out. We set up our goal and giant football and challenged the two teams to see who could win. We all enjoyed cheering each other on, shouting ‘GOOOOOAL!‘ and seeing if our residents could header the ball back instead of kicking it.
We chatted about our residents’ football experiences and who their favourite teams were; some fondly remembered the 1966 World Cup squad and talked about how much football has changed over the years.
