Jubilee crafts and street party at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Arts and crafts

On Wednesday 1 June we created hats and ties for our Platinum Jubilee celebrations at Woodstock Residential Care Home.

We decorated paper plates with paint and tissue paper and stuck gems on them to make it look like we were wearing the crown jewels! We then attached them to headbands ready for us to wear during our Jubilee street party.

We listened to songs throughout the decades and had a good singalong whilst being creative.

Jubilee street party

On Friday 3 June we celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a fantastic street party in our garden, with over 30 family members joining us for lunch.

We decorated the garden with Jubilee bunting, flags, balloons, Union Jack table cloths and the Queen even made an appearance!

We served canapes including mini quiche, fresh salmon, goats cheese on sourdough bread and cream cheese and pear crackers to get our tastebuds going. This was followed by delicious fish and chips and to finish off we had our local ice-cream man pop by for a visit. Everyone really enjoyed their food and especially enjoyed queuing up for their ice-creams, which brought back old memories from their childhood.

Singer Richard Mills came to entertain us and sang songs from all eras; we all enjoyed singing along and dancing with friends and family.

Our Chef Sebastian created a beautiful Union Jack cake which we served at the end of the celebration.

Everyone had such a lovely time singing and dancing the day away – what a wonderful Jubilee weekend!
