Knit and Natter Club at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Last week our residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home got together for our Knit and Natter Club to create some gorgeous pom-poms.

We cut out cardboard into discs and cut out a hole in the middle for our template. We then all chose the colours we wanted our pom-poms to be and started winding the wool around from the middle to the outer section of the cardboard. We enjoyed chatting to each other about our memories of knitting and sang along to some background music from ‘The Sound of Music’.

We continued to wrap wool and add different colours on top to add to our design. This was a popular activity and was a lovely relaxing way to get together and create something beautiful. It was also very good for our concentration, focus and hand-eye coordination.

To finish, we carefully cut around the wool and pulled it all together to create our pom-poms – we gave them a trim and they looked amazing!

Everyone enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and cake afterwards and admired all of our designs.
