The week before Christmas at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Woodstock Magical Market

On Thursday 16 December,Woodstock Residential Care Home’s magical market brightened up everyone’s day and brought a smile to everyone’s faces. We had our very own free Christmas market with lots of festive treats on offer.

Everyone was given a strip of raffle tickets, a token for cake and a token for a drink as they entered the market. With their strip of raffle tickets we all had a chance to claim a prize on our Christmas tombola stall. All of our tombola prizes were donated and wrapped by pupils of Oasis School. We really enjoy feeling part of the community and residents were amazed by students generosity.

Next up, we swapped our cake tokens for a gorgeous selection of tasty treats, including mince pies, cupcakes and donuts. With our drinks token we had lots of Christmassy drinks on offer, including a popular choice of hot chocolate with squirty cream, topped with sprinkles and mini marshmallows. We also had mulled wine on our drinks stall and residents enjoyed having a taster. We were all able to sit down and enjoy with Christmas music and chats with friends.

Woodstock’s Choir

On Friday 17 December all of our staff took part in the Woodstock Choir. Everybody dressed up in something glitzy and we made the day extra special by making cocktails with candy canes for everybody. We had snowballs, bucks fizz, Baileys and mocktails with cakes and nibbles for everyone to enjoy after the choir.

One of our songs we sang was ‘Jingle Bells’, which we used tambourines to make the jingling sounds. We also sang ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ using prompt cards for each day.

Pin the nose on Rudolph

On Sunday 18 December our residents had great fun pinning the red nose on Rudolph. Our ladies and gents were blindfolded with a scarf and they had to find their way to Rudolph’s nose. We had first and second prize for the nearest to the nose given to Wendy and Irene.

Cards to Woodstock

Over the last few days we have received some lovely handmade cards from Tunstall School and Highsted Grammar School. Everyone has enjoyed getting these beautiful Christmas cards from the pupils. This is a lovely way for us to feel involved with the community; thank you so much!
