Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Last week at Woodstock Residential Care Home we helped to celebrate the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ by holding an event for Macmillan Cancer Research.

We kicked off our day by staff dressing up in Grease themed costumes whilst our residents watched and sang along with Grease the Musical. We had a prize and certificate for our best dressed staff member which was won by Kathryn in her Sandy outfit.

We chose the Grease theme following the sad loss of Olivia Newton-John to breast cancer; we wanted to help raise awareness of the cause in a fun way.

In the afternoon, our residents’ families were invited to help us raise some money for the charity. We decorated our dining room with lots of 50s inspired decorations and we had a stall with tea and coffee, one full of yummy cakes, a Tombola with lots of prizes and a ‘Guess the weight of the cake‘ competition – our fabulous Grease-theme cake was made by our talented Cook Lynn.

We also invited singer Keeley in to Woodstock to sing lots of Grease hits and some 60s classics for us all to sing along and dance to.

Family members and residents all got up dancing and even started a train to ‘The Locomotion‘!

Fun was had by everyone and our relatives are eager to see what event we throw next!

We would like to thank all relatives and friends for the total raised on the day – an amazing £162! We are sure this is going to make a difference to someone’s life.
