1960s Through the Decades party fun at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Party prep

On Wednesday 20 April we got creative with our Woodstock Residential Care Home residents and made our very own funky camper van for our ‘Through the Decades – 1960s Day’ which we were all looking forward to.

We painted our camper van blue with great care to make everything look as authentic as possible. Everyone enjoyed chatting and learning new art techniques from our own resident artist Joan. We added pink swirls on top of the van to make it as ‘groovy’ as possible to stand out and catch everyone’s eye!

It was great to have it all ready ahead of our 60s dress up and sing along party.

Party time!

On Friday 22 April our residents got all dressed up and had a very groovy time at our 1960s themed party. Everyone donned 60s hippie themed clothes and accessories – tie-dye, with retro glasses and flower head bands.

Our lounge was decorated with tie-dye theme and bright coloured backdrops, with inflatable instruments to bring out our inner groovy superstar!

On entry to our party we had a hippie bus photoshoot where everyone got to pose and celebrate the 60s special day.

1960s themed food and drink was on offer on our party trolley, with a wide selection of themed treats, including Battenburg cake, jam tarts and a sausage and cheese hedgehog no less! We had snowballs and non alcoholic cocktails to get us in the party spirit too.

We all enjoyed singing and dancing along to the greatest hits of the decade, with Roy on the air guitar and reminiscing to all the songs we played.

What a blast from the past, which was so much fun!

We’re all looking forward to celebrating the next decade when we bring back the memories of the 1970s next month.
