Valentines words of wisdom
Our residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home enjoyed preparing for Valentine’s Day by sharing some words of wisdom on the secret to a good marriage and a happy relationship.
We had some lovely heart warming comments that made us smile, as well as some funny ones about how to keep your husband in check! Some examples were:
“Just be your natural self and don’t change” – Toots
“Be honest and truthful” – Gracie
“Happy wife means happy life!” – Dennis
We put the advice onto love hearts and created a beautiful display in our dining room ready for our Valentine’s Day afternoon tea and party with our loved ones.
Love is in the air
On Valentine’s Day itself, we got to experience something from the first time at our Home – we had a surprise engagement for one of our residents.
Bernard informed us that he proposed to Maureen in 1956 on Valentine’s Day and wanted to re-propose at our Valentine’s party. We set up a special romantic corner with balloons, confetti, flowers and bunting and Bernard brought the original engagement ring and red roses ready to surprise Maureen.
We got everyone’s attention for the special question. She said YES! We all had a glass of Prosecco to toast the happy couple and all had a tear in our eye at this romantic gesture. How beautiful.
