VE Preparations
We enjoyed preparing for VE Day here at Woodstock Residential Care Home with our ladies and gents.
Everyone spent an afternoon colouring posters for our walls and our residents chatted about their VE Day memories, May Day, and what these occasions mean to them.
It was then time to bring our plans to life and we started decorating our walls with our pictures and we all chipped in deciding where to hang our flags, passing them up to our team members to pin up.
We also enjoyed having a singalong to Doris Day and Vera Lynn – the perfect way to kick off our VE Day celebrations!
Music time
As part of our celebrations, we were treated to an amazing live performance from singer Keely who was dressed in a beautiful 1940s outfit.
We sang and danced along with all the traditional songs such as ‘The White Cliffs of Dover‘ and ‘The Lambeth Walk‘. We all held hands and swayed our arms side to side for the classic final song ‘We’ll Meet Again’.
We look forward to the celebrations next year!
