Carers Week thank yous to staff at Woodstock Residential Care Home

This week marks Carers Week (8-14 June) and we are holding a cream tea party for our staff at Woodstock Residential Care Home to show them how much they are appreciated by our Manager Nicola, the Nellsar team and all of our residents’ loved ones.

We are delighted to have some wonderful messages of support from some of our lovely families, to say thanks to everyone at Woodstock for all their hard work over the last couple of months to keep everyone safe in these difficult times.

We will pin these on our noticeboard so that everyone can read them and know they are making a difference.

Thank you to our families for their kind words;

“Just want to say a huge thank you to you all for looking after mum and all the other residents at Woodstock. It is hugely appreciated.” Alison (Maud’s daughter)

“We knew (even if she didn’t) that Woodstock was the right place for Rosa as soon as she arrived. It wasn’t just because there were lots of activities, or plenty of singing and dancing. The staff (every member of staff) care about mum, have time for mum and respect her. Quite frankly they do a better job than we could. They are patient, allow her to make as many choices as possible for herself and treat her with dignity. We know that she can’t see her grandchildren or go out for walks which can make her upset. However, they have done their best to distract her in very unusual circumstances. During this Coronavirus pandemic they have worked extremely hard and at risk to themselves. Yet they have still given that level of care to mum, as well as being patient and understanding with her family. So – thank you.” Katherine Freeman and Paul Squire

“Hello to all the Woodstock Angels. As I’ve said many times – thank you a million times for all you do for mum (Irene Walters) and all the residents. It’s a tough time for all of us during this awful pandemic. Knowing how hard you are working to keep the residents safe is a huge comfort for all us relatives. You are not just mum’s Carers – you are her surrogate family and I am so grateful for your amazing dedication in all you do. It means that I know mum is as safe as possible as well as loved and cared for by a very special team. Management, Maintenance, Carers, Cooks and Cleaners and everyone else who contributes to a Wonderful Woodstock Team – a million thank yous. You allow me to have a normal life, run a business and sleep at night! All much harder before you came into mum’s life and mine. I love and cherish you all every day. Keep up the great work. Enjoy your day. See you soon. Love and best wishes.” Kevin Walters

“Don moved into Woodstock just before lockdown so we didn’t have long to get to know everyone there. All I can say is Don is happy and well cared for. I can only imagine how busy and stressful this has been, but when I have phoned to see how Don is I never feel I am being a nuisance. As a family we have no worries about Don’s welfare and thank you all for making his life and ours happier. Thank you xx”

“We all appreciate everything that you all do and my mum Iris would be lost without you all. Keep the good work going!” Love from the Smith family

“Hello Carers! All the family of Betty in room 66 really appreciate everything you have done and are still doing to help our mum and family cope with the coronavirus outbreak. The fact that we are able to Skype and talk to our mum made a lot of difference. It was very emotional and reassuring at the same time. Woodstock staff have kept us all informed and we really couldn’t have asked for more than that. Without all your hard work and commitment it would have been a lot harder for everyone. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!” Ruth and family
