Mexican cruise fun at Woodstock Residential Care Home

Our Woodstock Residential Care Home ladies and gents continued their cruise around Mexico throughout last week and enjoyed experiencing different activities, all incorporating a Mexican theme.

We learned about Frida Kahlo and looked at some of the wonderful pieces of art she created. We then decided it was time for us to get creative in an arts and crafts session, and drew some self portraits and portraits of other people around the table. We all had fun doing this, assisted by two experienced artists amongst our residents who were able to help us with how to structure a portrait.

After this, we gathered together for a cosy film afternoon watching ‘The Book of Life’ which is an animated film set in a Mexican town, following the life of a bull fighter in his choices and quest for love.

We also had fun competing in our ‘sombrero hoopla’ game and cheering each other on to try and get as many points as possible. We finished our trip with some piñata colouring which we have displayed around our Home.

Our residents and team have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing some new activities and learning about Mexican culture during our virtual travels.
