Mothers Day pampering and afternoon tea at Woodstock Residential Care Home

In preparation for Mother’s Day, we gathered some of our residents to help create bunting to be displayed around our lounge here at Woodstock Residential Care Home.

We cut out tissue paper circles in different sizes and colours and stuck them together with scrunched middle sections to create some flowers. Our ladies then got to work with colouring in the letters to spell out ‘Happy Mother’s Day’. Once it was finished, we attached it to ribbon and stuck the flowers on to create a beautiful and bright display.

Our ladies had a lovely time celebrating Mothering Sunday on 10 March. We decided that we wanted to treat all of our lovely ladies to a pamper session, so we set up a spa station for them and created a relaxing atmosphere with a wax melt burning a vanilla cupcake smell and a lovely trickling water feature.

Our ladies were able to get their nails painted, have a hand massage, have their hair done and have a makeover with a touch of makeup. All of them said how relaxed and spoilt they felt.

In the afternoon we decided to hold a pink-themed afternoon tea for everyone. Our wonderful Cook Lynn baked us a beautiful pink Mother’s Day cake decorated with delicate flowers. Everyone was able to admire the cake before it was cut and we all thanked Lynn for her hard work and effort.

Our residents were offered a glass of Prosecco, Bucks Fizz, tea or coffee to go with their cake. We all got chatting about Mother’s Day – our residents’ children and their own mums – whilst listening to some music.

Our ladies all commented on how special they had been made to feel and how much they had enjoyed their day.
