This week at Woodstock Residential Care Home we started preparations for St George’s Day.
St George’s Day is celebrated annually on 23 April, and is recognised as England’s national day. St George became a legendary figure in English history due to his courage and bravery. The country adopted him as its patron saint, with April 23 being chosen as the date of celebration to mark his death.
Our residents worked together to create a selection of St George’s cross flags using red tissue paper on a white background, chatting about English culture and what St George’s Day means to them during the crafting session.
We’re looking forward to celebrating this national day later in the month.
