St Patricks Day fun and Mothers Day crafts at Woodstock Residential Care Home

St Patrick’s Day preparations

On Friday 11 March our residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home joined in with a St Patrick’s themed pub quiz and all dressed up for the occasion!

Our pub quiz questions were dedicated to getting us ready to celebrate St Patrick’s Day today!

Questions included:

  • When is St Patrick’s Day?
  • Which Country is St Patrick the patron of?
  • Which colour symbolises St Patrick’s Day?
  • Which plant is the symbol of Ireland?
  • What is the traditional food for St Patrick’s day?
  • What is the capital of Ireland?
  • What is the currency used in Ireland?

We were able to answer all these questions collectively and we all giggled with each other as we dressed up for the pub quiz. We’ll be enjoying some delicious Irish food and a pint of Guinness today to be sure!

Preparing for Mother’s Day

On Wednesday 16 March we all got creative with some Mother’s Day themed arts and crafts in preparation for Mother’s Day coming up on Sunday 27 March.

Our residents enjoyed making their own bunch of flowers from tissue paper, paper plates, paint and card to create bright, eye catching designs.

We started off by cutting out petals on the edge of the paper plates, then we attached a stem made from card. We used bright paint, including pinks, purples and yellows to add some colour to the flower petals.

While this was drying we cut up some tissue paper and then scrunched it up and carefully glued it on to our flowers, to give them a textured 3D effect.

Everyone came up with some wonderful designs and they are all so beautiful.

We will be putting them up around our Home in time for Mother’s Day for everyone to enjoy.
