On Monday 25 April our residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home got together to bake some tasty treats in order to raise some money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society has dedicated between 25 April to 1 May 2022 to ‘Bake for Dementia’ to encourage everyone to participate to ‘raise some dough’ for the charity that is very close to all of our hearts.
Creative cupcakes
We started off our baking week with a blast, as we have been busy making cupcakes. Our lovely Cook assisted our residents in making some gorgeous cupcakes, that looked and smelt delicious. We added flour, caster sugar and butter, and cracked the eggs into bowls, and mixed all the ingredients to make a smooth creamy mixture – we all got a good arm workout mixing all the components together!
We then carefully spooned the mixture into cake cases and put them in the oven to bake. We enjoyed having a chat and helping each other. Once they were cooked to perfection we let them cool and began to ice them and top the cakes with delicate flowers that our Cook had kindly made.
Perfect pizzas!
We then had an afternoon of making delicious pizzas. We started off by covering our pizzas bases with special pizza sauce, making sure to cover all the surface of the base with the back of a spoon. We then sprinkled cheese on top and began to add a selection of toppings including peppers, ham, tomatoes and bacon – finished off with another sprinkling of cheese to melt it all together. The pizzas smelt gorgeous when cooking in the oven and they looked amazing!
All of our masterpieces have been available for our residents’ families and staff to buy at Woodstock, and their donations will go to help the Alzheimer’s Society. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
Our residents have enjoyed a scrumptious cake and cup of tea with their loved ones on family visits and have been very proud of how they have tasted!
We love to help out wherever we can with raising money for this amazing charity and it has been very enjoyable making our tasty treats.
