Fundraising cookies and scones at Woodstock Residential Care Home

On Wednesday 27 April our residents at Woodstock Residential Care Home carried on with their brilliant bakes to raise further donations for the Alzheimer’s Society.

We had a fun day of baking and started off in the morning by making some chunky chocolate chip cookies.

We carefully measured out our ingredients into bowls – caster sugar, plain flour, baking soda, margarine, vanilla extract, chocolate chips, egg and light brown sugar – mixing them with a wooden spoon until smooth. We then greased our trays with butter and placed our cookie mixture onto the trays. They smelt so yummy when they were cooking and were mouth-watering to taste!

During our afternoon baking session we made some sensational scones!

We first started by measuring out all of our ingredients carefully, adding self raising flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt into each bowl. We then added cubes of butter into the dry mixture and began rubbing the butter and flour in together with our fingers, until it became fine crumbs.

We stirred in the caster sugar and then stirred in milk and vanilla extract; adding the wet components allowed us to bind it all together and create a dough. We sprinkled our work surface with flour and began to work the dough. When we’d rolled out the dough, we cut out scones and placed them on trays. We then brushed them over with milk and put them in the oven. They looked amazing!

We are looking forward to sharing these with our families on their visits to our Home, with a lovely cup of tea – all for such a good cause.

Well done to our bakers and to everyone who has already kindly donated.
