Fireworks night at Woodstock Residential Care Home

On Friday 3 November everyone enjoyed the lead up to celebrating bonfire night at at Woodstock Residential Care Home by joining in with a fun arts and crafts session creating rockets.

We cut out the top and body of the rocket in all different shapes and sizes from different coloured paper; we could chose what colours we wanted each section of the rocket to be and glued them down to a black sheet of card. Next we decorated our rockets with coloured felt tip pens and this involved lots of different patterns and colours. Finally we created the streamers coming from the end of the rocket with strips of tissue paper and carefully placed this at the bottoms of our rockets using glue. They all looked amazing and we happily put them up on display for our family and friends to see on firework night!

In the evening we were joined by family and friends for yummy sausage rolls and tasty tomato soup while watching our amazing firework display.

Some of our residents were brave enough to wrap up warm and venture outside into the garden to watch the beautiful display with their families, while others enjoyed sitting all together in the warm watching from the windows. Everyone said how lovely the display was and loved that their friends and family could be there too. Our residents, family and friends of Woodstock had the chance to hold a sparkler in the garden and we had fun writing our names using the light of the sparkler.

It was so nice to see everyone getting together and all the smiling faces. We also enjoyed seeing lots of other amazing displays in the community from the comfort of our own garden – there were some gorgeous displays over the whole weekend!
