Woodstock Residential Care Home residents enjoy a Christmas market and magic show

Christmas market

Over the festive season here at Woodstock Residential Care Home we held a Christmas market for our residents, their relatives and our care team.

We set up a variety of stalls for everyone to interact with, including a stall with tree decorations made by our residents, a lucky dip, a raffle to win a hamper and a refreshment stall with lots of yummy treats including doughnuts and mince pies – the idea being to give our ladies and gents the experience of being at a Christmas market.

During the day, we also had a variety of entertainment throughout the market. This started with the Sittingbourne Carnival Court attending and doing a performance of songs and jokes. They went around handing out candy canes to everyone and getting their pictures taken with some of our residents. We all really enjoyed their visit and look forward to having them back in the new year.

Next we enjoyed a lovely lady called Anna singing us some beautiful Christmas songs for us to sing along and have a dance to. We all had a wonderful afternoon and enjoyed spending time with friends and loved ones at this special time of year.

Magic performance

We were also delighted to invite Mr Fizz the Magician back to perform for us and he dazzled us again with some amazing magic tricks. We had a very special birthday girl who had come to watch him and was very happy to be his glamorous assistant for the performance! Mr Fizz also treated us to a cuddle with his rabbit Houdini and made us some very funny hats from balloons.

What a brilliant day!

Fond farewell

During the Christmas market, we had to say goodbye to our lovely Kitchen Assistant Katie. Katie is moving up to London, which meant a career change for her.

Our team made a collection and presented Katie with some flowers, a card and some other treats to thank her for all her hard work. Our residents and colleagues all gave her a big round of applause. We will all miss you Katie and wish you the best for your future adventures.

Farewell to Kitchen Assistant Katie
