Woodstock Residential Care Home residents enjoy Burns Night crafts and themed food

Our ladies and gents at Woodstock Residential Care Home celebrated Burns Night together on Thursday 25 January.

We started the day by watching the Edinburgh Military Tattoo on TV, enjoying the sounds of the bagpipes being played and looking at all the different kilts and uniforms.

We then decided to get creative and make our own tartan to represent our family clan name. We used different coloured card and weaved them in and out of each other to created a tartan pattern.

For lunch our Chef created a choice of Scottish beef stew with ‘neeps’ and ‘tatties’, or a tasty leek and potato cake. For pudding we were treated to Cranachan which is made from oats, raspberries and cream. Delicious!

To finish off the day we looked at some of Robert Burns’ poems, including ‘To a Mouse‘ and ‘A Red, Red Rose‘.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our taste of Scotland and experiencing Scottish culture.
