Australia Day Bush Tucker Trials at Woodstock Residential Care Home

On Wednesday 26 January we celebrated Australia Day at Woodstock Residential Care Home.

Ant and Dec made a special visit all the way from Australia for Woodstock’s Bush Tucker Trials and brought many messy trials to complete!

We prepared for the trials a few days before by painting boxes black and cutting out holes in the front of them.

We decorated our trolley with Australian flags, inflatable kangaroos and snakes and had aboriginal music playing to get everyone in character for the famous Aussie trials.

Ant and Dec brought along their creepy crawlies and hid them in our four black boxes. Each mystery box had something different in:

  • Box 1 had wobbly jelly
  • Box 2 was filled with shaving foam
  • Box 3 had a surprise from Ant’s hand
  • Box 4 had stringy spaghetti

Everyone had a go at feeling around inside each box to find a creepy crawly and every camper received some yummy sweets as their reward for their bravery! We also had a photoshoot with Ant and Dec.

We all encouraged each other to win the prizes and complete the bush tucker trials.

Such a fun sensory activity!
