On Thursday 8 June we enjoyed celebrating ‘Best Friend Day’ at Woodstock Residential Care Home and spent the day chatting about our best friends and all of our memories with them.
In the afternoon we made friendship bracelets to gift to our friends at Woodstock. We started off by measuring pieces of string and elastic, getting them to the right length to make bracelets. We then threaded different beads onto the string, each band being individual and having different patterns and colours.
Everyone was very concentrated on threading the beads on properly and took a lot of care when deciding what colours they thought their friend would like. It was such a calming, therapeutic activity and was a great way to improve everyone’s fine motor skills.
We all chatted about making these bracelets when we were younger and were very excited to give them out and couldn’t wait to see the smile on the recipients’ faces.
One of our residents was honoured to receive three multicoloured bracelets on her wrist. She showed them off with pride!
