On Monday 29 December we came together at Woodstock Residential Care Home for a festive arts session with Jayne from Creative Minds.
Creative Minds is a passionate community of artists who deliver fun and therapeutic art sessions to care homes and day centres across the country. Their artists enable older people to explore their creativity using a variety art materials and mediums across visual art, craft and sculpture.
As we are beginning to get into the spirit of Christmas at Woodstock, we got creative making snowflakes and icicles to hang as decorations around our Home.
We began by using a wooden cut-out snowflake template which we then wrapped in icy blue pieces of string and wool, in a variety of thicknesses and patterns. We then added some sparkle, with lots of sequins and glitter.
Everyone enjoyed seeing their creations take shape and we had lots of compliments about our beautiful finished decorations.
We also enjoyed having a chat about Christmas traditions during the session – what a festive gathering!
