Woodstock Residential Care Home residents have fun at a Mad Hatters tea party

On Monday 28 August everyone at Woodstock Residential Care Home was invited to our ‘Woodstock in Wonderland Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’!

We enjoyed starting the day by watching Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and chatting about the film. Families, friends and staff joined us in celebrating the bank holiday weekend and what an amazing turn out we had!

One condition to enter was that you must wear your maddest hat to be part of the Woodstock in Wonderland’s festivities! We had so many amazing hats on show and family and friends voted for the best ‘Mad Hats’ – the best staff hat was awarded to Cilla and the best hat amongst family and friends was awarded to Sue. Well done ladies what gorgeous mad hats you both made! Winners were presented with an Alice in Wonderland tea cup and certificate.

As you arrived at the entrance of our Wonderland it was time for a photo opportunity to prove you made it to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! Before lunch, family and residents challenged each other in a game of flamingo hoopla which was amazingly part of a staff member’s mad hat!

For lunch we tucked into a wonderful BBQ with burgers, sausages and all the sides, and then for pudding had a feast of desserts! We really were spoilt for choice and it was mouthwatering looking at all the tempting sweet treats including a caterpillar cake, Viennese whirls, sponge fingers and Swiss rolls, with brownies, cupcakes and profiteroles made by our Cooks.

Our residents were very happy and proud to see their artwork up all around to decorate this big event.

Everyone was amazed watching the magician Mr Fizz show us lots of magic tricks with help from staff and were very impressed when he made a white bunny rabbit appear before our eyes! We all got a chance to meet and stroke him. A big thank you Mr Fizz – we are looking forward to your next magic show.

Thank you to everyone who attended Woodstock’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, we all had such a fantastic time and can’t wait for our next event!
